Sunday Prayer: The Transfiguration

March 2, 2014 Rachel Guaraldi
photo 2 (2)

Let us go up the mountain top. Let us go up to the place where the land meets the sky where the earth touches the heavens, to the place of meeting, to the place of mists, to the place of voices and conversations, to the place of listening.

Let us go up to the mountain top. Let us go up to the place where our heart burst open where we are touched by the divine, to the place of opening to the place of breaking to the place of becoming to the place of transformation

Let us go up to the mountain top. Let us go up to the place where we are transformed where transfiguration happens in our hearts to a place of forgiveness to a place of grace to a place of home to a place of God.

and satisfy the needs of the afflicted, then your light shall rise in the darkness and your gloom be like the noonday.

(Isaiah 58:6-10)

Dearly Beloved, It is this day, in the Christian tradition, when Jesus, as a child, was presented before you in the Temple. It was there, when Jesus was presented to you among his community, that your faithful servants Simeon and Anna recognized the gift that you had brought into the world.
