Psalm 8
My dearest beloved
how beautiful is your face in all the earth!
You have set your glory
within and beyond creation;
Infinite in every way.
From the youngest of sprouts
you, my beloved, have designed praise
and protection from your enemies
Your lovers’ hard shells stand,
And warning shrills pierce.
When I consider your infinity,
The work of your fingers,
The moon , the stars, time before and to come;
The vastness that you have set in place.
When I consider your infinitesimal
The work of your fingers
The atom and the charges
The spiral ever smaller that you have set in place
What are we in your intricate designs?
Who are we that are worthy of your care and concern?
You made us a little lower than the heavenly beings
You made us a little higher than life around us
and you dreamed us into your kin-dom of love.
You made us your lover
You also made us stewards of your molded creation;
you put everything in our care:
All families and friendships,
And the creatures of the land,
All life that moves and is still
Obeying the patterns of connectivity.
Oh my dearest beloved
Who are we to deserve this privilege?
How beautiful is your face in all the earth.
